This Privacy Policy explains how Zaatar ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application ("App") and related services. By creating an account or using Zaatar, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
We collect the following categories of information to operate and improve the App:
• Account Information: Email, phone number, and authentication data stored securely through AWS Cognito.
• Profile Information: Name, age, location, background, languages, lifestyle details, and what you are looking for.
• User Content: Photos, prompts, voice notes, and Moments you upload or share through the App.
• Usage Data: Swipes, likes, matches, preferences, and general app activity.
• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and IP address.
• Permissions: Access to your camera, microphone, and photo library when you choose to grant it.
We use your information to:
• Create and manage your account.
• Build and display your profile to other users.
• Show you potential matches and suggested profiles.
• Store and display your photos, voice notes, and Moments.
• Process swipes, likes, matches, and other interactions.
• Improve safety, detect abuse or suspicious behavior, and enforce our policies.
• Communicate with you about updates, changes, and support.
We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to securely store and process data:
• AWS Cognito for authentication and identity management.
• Amazon S3 buckets for storing profile photos, voice prompts, and Moments.
• Amazon DynamoDB for storing user data, preferences, and match history.
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and, where applicable, encryption at rest. Access to data is restricted to authorized systems and limited personnel as needed to operate the App.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with:
• AWS, for secure hosting and infrastructure.
• Twilio or similar providers, for SMS verification and communication.
• Analytics or crash-reporting tools, if and when they are integrated.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
You may delete your account and personal data at any time. You can do this directly inside the Zaatar app through the account settings page, where you will find an option to permanently delete your profile. Once selected, your account, profile information, photos, voice notes, Moments, matches, preferences, and related data will be removed from our live systems.
Moments are designed to be temporary and automatically expire after 24 hours. Expired Moments are permanently deleted and are not stored or recoverable after expiration.

Zaatar is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will remove the account and associated data.
If you access Zaatar from outside the United States, you understand and agree that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where our servers and systems are located.
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to request access to your data, request deletion, or receive more details about how we use your data. You can contact us at any time to ask about these rights and how they may apply to you.
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Any disputes arising from or related to this Policy must be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Michigan.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Zaatar after any changes means you accept the revised Policy.
